The Chosen by Chiam Potak. I first read this book in high school and since then have probably re-read it once a year. It begins a little slowly, setting up the characters and dynamics between them but it is honestly one of the most beautiful stories about friendship, growing up, father-son relationships, and faith I have ever read. When I was super sick last Christmas in Germany - to the point where I really could hardly move from my hotel bed to the bathroom - my sister pulled out a copy and began reading it aloud to me. I instantly began to feel better.
The Lions of Al'Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay. I also first read this book in high school and it opened my eyes up to a wonderful world of beautiful language and characters to love and a story that made me weep with feelings. I really recommend the author he's great. Tigana and A Song for Arbonne, are high on my list, too!
Eat Love Pray by Elizabeth Gilbert. A friend gave this to me for my birthday last March and I have not had so much fun reading in a long time. I laughed out loud, and then a page later was sobbing. It's heart felt, and delicious, and moving, and above all - hopeful.
The Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I picked up the first book after learning that he would be finishing Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time Series since Robert Jordan tragically died before he could complete it. I had no idea what to expect and was blown away. The characters and the magic system were brilliant. It's action packed, there's a strong woman, and lots of twists that keep you guessing.

So - I am sort of loving being a slug these days! I am catching up on fic I've missed... I've started writing my spn_j2_xmas fic! But what I started might really be a LONG thing that I don't have to write so I'm brain storming what to do instead and trying not to freak out too much about it. Guys... I need to come up with something humorous. PRESSURE. But now, I have TWO things that I want to write for Big Bang next year. EEP! Not sure how that will go.
I got a LOVELY card from
enablelove the other day. Thank you sweets! I got to chat with
wendy and catch up with
girlmostlikely the other night!
Also, I'm not sure many of you will be interested... but the lovely
navlasha has been collecting Merlin fics to make a gigantic rec list for me as I asked for that on my Wish list. She has posted part one HERE and I can't wait to dive in. Thank you so much honey! If you have made a wish list and haven't linked me to it - PLEASE DO!
I am continuing to LOVE Kyle and Fish and literally had BUTTERFLIES in my stomach with their scenes at Kyle's on Monday. They are so tender and ADORABLE and make gooey declarations of love and AHHH. It's insane.

Title: Reality Check
Author: nong_pradu
Rating: R (for language, violence, and occasional bits of nekkid Dean)
Disclaimer: Not for profit; nothing's mine. Don't own any of it.
Pairing: Sam/Jess, brief mentions of Dean/OFC(s)
Summary: After a bad hunt, Dean wakes up to find that nothing is as it should be. Rubber rooms and padded walls, with no hope of escape, unless he can convince Sam that he's not crazy.
Story Notes: This is set during season 1, some time after "Faith" but before "Shadow." No spoilers for the present seasons. We've got hurt/comfort, drugs, pain, and Dean in a straight jacket. All of you Dean!whump lovers -- it is ON!
Part 3

I seriously will never need drugs as long as I have Korean variety shows. Coupling the sheer weirdness of them with the bizarrely sliced clipshows people make of their favorite bands (lol at this person splicing in every single facial reaction SHINee has to anything without any context) makes for a good time. Apparently, Choi Minho can only go :O.

Over the course of four and a half seasons, we've seen the storyline go from a pretty small-scale family quest, to a sprawling end-of-the-world apocalypse. So let's look to the future. What's our final destination? Who's going to make it out alive? Sam, Dean, both of them, or neither of them? We've lost other secondary characters along the way, but which non-Winchester is going to still be standing when the credits roll?
Is there a difference between what you expect Kripke to do and what you want him to do? Would getting a season six significantly alter the ending we should expect? And should we expect a specific scene or callback to previous exchanges as our closing for the final episode?
Please remember to keep it spoiler-free. This isn't so much about what you know is coming, but what you suspect and/or are hoping for.

So, I have an interview for a part-time gig at a Fairfield Inn really close to where I live and I'm super excited for it! I mean, obvs no counting chickens before they're hatched, but it's so hard to come by even INTERVIEWS right now that I'm feeling good about it. So, wish me luck, plz!
Other than that, I have been doing a lot of writing and generally being lamesauce. I hope to get at least one story done before the end of the year. What would you guys like? Mirror!McCoy/OFC, a Chris/Karl, or the Jocelyn fic?
Okay, gotta go walk the dogs. <---Not a euphemism.
